Throughout my life, I had country dogs, i.e. dogs who didn't go on leash walks or everywhere I went. They pooped in the yard and I cleaned it up with a pooper scooper.
After moving to the suburbs, I quickly realized my neighbors all walked their dogs and picked up their poop. Self disclosure, I learned in a most embarrassing way: I once assumed a neighbor and her dog stopped by to bring a welcoming gift. After talking a while with no effort on her part to hand me the bag, I asked "What do you have there in the bag?" Needless to say, it wasn't a gift at all, but instead a bag full of poo! Lesson #1 learned.
Unfortunately, our country dog boxer, did not live long enough for me to transition to that dog-poop-carrying lifestyle as she did her business in the yard. However, after her passing we got a Border Collie.
I soon learned another lesson: My high-energy dog needed to be leash-walked a couple times a day; so I joined the ranks of neighbors carrying plastic bags full of poop up and down the sidewalks, forest preserves, and roadways. What I still refer to as poo on parade.
Owning dogs is a series of life lessons and when Dog #2--another Border Collie-- came along, I learned a couple more things: Two Border Collies can be quite rambunctious and bags of dog waste could become a casualty of that rambunctiousness!
Each outing resulted in a struggle to manage two leashes, two or more bags of poo, my keys or garage door opener, a water bottle, waste bags, training treats, and other necessities. Unfortunately, one of my most-needed necessities was an epiPen and was often forgotten at home. A few close calls and having it on-hand became a priority. One more thing learned; one more thing to manage.
As I walked the dogs, I contemplated ways to manage my stuff and the dogs' stuff, but generally ended up with the same solution: wearing clothing with pockets and stuffing them until I looked like a Thanksgiving turkey, then schlepping home carrying their waste (quite humbling)!
That is, until the day. My dogs, who were really well behaved on the outgoing walk, but got crazy on the way home, began playing with one another. Their leashes got wrapped around the bags of poo I was carrying. Without warning, one dog went forward and one went backward, trapping the bags between their leashes. The bags ripped apart and poo went flying! I ended up with dog waste smeared on my hands, my clothing, the dog leashes, and even the dogs.
That. Was. It!
I needed a solution and I needed it now!
I searched the internet, visited pet stores, and looked at purses and bags everywhere I went. There was nothing compact, light-weight, easy-to-use, affordable, attractive, or practical!
As a life-long interior decorator and seamstress, I began playing with designs until I came up with a bag I didn't have to carry separately or across/around my body. I needed this bag to hold all my things, have a means of transporting waste without having to undo buckles or pockets, and to be lightweight, easy to clean, and unobtrusive. Viola! it took many iterations, but our patented Dog-Go Bag is the final result and ticks every box.
It's perfect for walks around the neighborhood or park, or treks through the woods. Wherever your dog goes, and goes, Dog-Go Bag is a necessity!
